Litigation Practice

Most litigation is undertaken to protect the interests of regular clients of the firm in connection with matters in which we have been involved. We do, however, take on matters where there is no other client relationship. This occurs most commonly on referrals from correspondents in other jurisdictions and in cases where other New York firms find themselves with conflicts of interest.

Because of our extensive practice in the shipping and finance areas, a significant portion of our litigation involves the enforcement of loan documents, commercial paper and bankruptcy, but we are also engaged in a wide range of commercial litigation including commercial and residential real property, charter party arbitrations, vessel arrests and assertion and foreclosure of maritime liens.

We do not do contingent fee litigation or handle most personal injury matters.
